  • HOW DO YOU DO IT??

there is this saying that i use quite often, "If you can't keep up, how will you catch up?"

i tend to be the type of person who bites off way more than they can chew.  right now i'm at work, and will get home about 6 p.m.  i have been working on some prints for orders for several brides and grooms, and i need to complete 4 albums.  (the one album will be 50 pages (100 sides!).  in addition to that, there are baby pictures and albums.  i started teaching a little class on tuesday night, and i bought a lawn mower last saturday, and have already cut my grass twice!  (i love to work in the yard.)

i have the GREATEST pictures of Michelle and Kacy Jo, and so many people from WPPI, and all i've done so far is download them!  my list of things to do just keeps getting longer, and longer!!

do you ever feel so overwhelmed that you don't know what to do next?  i'm looking at my desk here at work, and i cannot see the top of it!  i don't know where to start.  HOW DO YOU DO EVERYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO DO????  seriously, how do YOU get it all done??

  • metallurgy meets photoshop

people ask me all the time... what do you do at work all day?  well, i look at titanium.  today i got to knock the socks off everyone with my photoshop skilz.

this is the top of a wheel bolt.  there is a company in europe that makes the bolts that hold the parts of the wheels together for a little car company called BMW.    it's one of the few places you will see titanium in a production car because it is soooooooooooooo expensive.

when there are problems with materials, i take a look at it to see whats wrong, often looking at microstructure and photographing it through a microscope.  the top of the bolt is pretty large (by microscope standards, so i took about 40 pictures and photoshoped them together for my boss.  it's one of the coolest pictures i've done at work so i thought i'd show it to ya'. this is it:

you can see the crack that starts at the bottom and the flow lines that go around the bolt head and the crack that is also visible at the top.

  • babies!

i just ordered some baby pictures for some clients.  i love them when they are brand-spankin' new!

i adore this photograph of baby Lauren.  she was only 3 days old.  Image hosting by Photobucket

  • past performance is not an indication of future results

i am NO expert on this subject AT ALL...  but i thought i would share this info:

about 7 months ago, we (Bellissima) took out an ad on the Knot website.  it was a reasonable investment and seems to be getting a very nice response.   when i would try to bring up the webpage to see our little ad, i would just google 'knot'.  every time, i would get the stock result as the first listing, and i noticed that this is a relatively new stock being publically traded, and it was pretty affordable.   i DO NOT know anything about stocks or the market, but i advertise on the knot, and i had a few bucks that i could buy a few shares with, so i got some knot stock.  well, today i checked it and it's up almost 60% - well, i'm thrilled.  i suppose i should sell it, but i think i might get more.  i just thought i'd share this, as it's still pretty affordable at $18.68/share.  (now, of course, i wish i had bought more.)

i guess i should do more research, but i'm not interested in PE ratios and all that crap. i just know i advertise with them, and a LOT of brides use it.  just some food for thought!
